Texas 54

The idea of having a list of the best holes is nothing new. The Dallas Morning News has ranked holes in the past for the state of Texas, so the idea itself has already been explored. However, the Texas 54 is a little different. In a past tweet, we set out the overall idea of what this would be. We take the 18 best par 3s, par 4s, and par 5s and let players debate over the holes or simply try to play all 54. The holes are determined by our readers and suggestions from golf course architects in the state with things like variety, bunkering, green complexes, etc. taken into consideration. The goal was not to get the toughest holes together (although some could and probably should be), but instead the goal was and still is to get together the most architecturally sound holes in Texas.

The current list of holes for the Texas 54 is subject change and will continue to be subject to change. As more courses are designed and go through redesigns/renovations this list will be a subject of debate. We want to make it as simple as possible to continue the deliberation of the holes on the Texas 54 and set up two ways to stay involved. The first is by suggestions, we will continue to take suggestions on twitter and Instagram but we have set up a suggestion form here as well. The second way to stay involved is by continuing to participate in our voting process here. This will allow everyone to see what hole are currently being suggested and what holes are have the most support behind them.
